Nehru a Maker or Destroyer of India

Nehru the first and the longest serving PM of India.

Today in India the topic that emerges from Nehru is only one i.e. Was Nehru a Maker or Destroyer of India?

There are many people who are in favor that Nehru was the Architect of India and critics of being a destroyer. They believe that Nehru was the need of India at the time of Independence; his actions have saved India from many unimaginable consequences. It is believed that if there was no Nehru there would have been no India.

His very first decision to curb Zamindari and not the zamindars and the Privy Purse was a master stroke, after it Vallabhbhai Patel formed the federation and paved the way for the so called India.

His second act was the adoption of the NAM (Non Aligned Movement) at a time when India was not in position to support any of the group. It gave India time to develop and build up as a nation by giving peace and harmony to the country.

His third masterstroke was the adoption of 5 year plans chalking out the road map and direction for the development, which is even regarded as the key piece of India’s economic policy.

Well Well Well it was not so easy for Nehru. There had been many problems his way which brought in a lot of criticism. The very first was the India- Pakistan Partition, which many people believe was due to Nehru. 

The second was that of the Indo China War and many more.

But whatever be the criticism he was surely a man that India required and credits go to the decisions taken by Nehru and his diplomatic and well educated moves which has made India what it is today.
