All you need to know about Syria …

Nowadays whenever you open your newspaper one of the headlines you encounter with is the Syrian civil war. It appears quite boring to read the article as some of you might not be aware from where it all started.

So well here you will to know most of the things that you might feel embarrassed to ask from your friends or colleagues.

Syria is a country in the Middle East. Syria is very diverse, ethnically and religiously, but most Syrians are ethnic Arab and follow the Sunni sect of Islam. Syria is in the middle of an extremely violent civil war. There is continuous fire going on between government forces and rebels that had killed many people and had created 2 million refugees, half of them children.

It all started in April 2011, when peaceful protests started in Syria, inspired by the revolutions in Egypt to throw away the dictatorship in the country. Syrian government in order to avoid such circumstances ordered security forces to quietly kill the activists. Then they started kidnapping, raping, torturing and killing activists and their family members, including a lot of children, dumping their bodies by the roadsides to create a fear among the people. Then troops simply began to open fire on the protests. Eventually, civilians started shooting back. Civilians organized themselves into rebel groups. In response the President deployed army across the country, bombing towns, trying to terrorize people. Recently they've also used chemical weapons, which is a big deal. Volunteers from other countries joined the rebels, either because they wanted freedom and democracy for Syria or because they are jihadists who want dictatorship to stay in Syria.

There is no end in sight until some external forces takeover the matter and establish democracy in Syria but Russia will not go against the Syrian government as it has a naval base installed in Syria, which is Russia’s last foreign military base outside the former Soviet Union, Russia wants to maintain good relations with one of its last military alliances and Syria buys a lot of Russian military exports, and Russia needs the money.

So it has become a complicated issue which is affecting the country Syria itself and the world too as the oil prices are rising due to the lower supply.
Now I am sure you would find it interesting to read the Syrian news in the tomorrow’s newspaper.
