Harry Potters Invisible Cloak a Reality…
Yes! It’s correct what you
read just now, invisible cloak. I am
sure you all might have seen the Harry Potter series and the mystical, magical
and wizardry world of Harry Potter. And of course how can you miss the Harry
Potter’s Invisible cloak. As I saw Harry Potter's cloak I always envied him
that even I could get that cloak. And again science has made it possible. An invisibility cloak is invented at Rochester university by professor John Howell.
The simplicity of this cloak is
that it uses four standard lenses instead of High-tech specialized equipments
as we may expect. It is first device that can do three-dimensional,
continuously multi directional cloaking, which works for transmitting rays in
visible spectrum.
The lenses are placed at such a distance from each other so as to allow
the light to act in specific ways, first focussing it down to a fine point
through one lens, then again through the next and is repeated such that the
object in the ring shaped cloaking field is nit visible to a person peering
through the lenses with background appearing normal. This invisibility has a
range around 15 degrees.
It is imagined to be beneficial for
allowing a surgeon to operate without their view being obstructed by their
hands. It may help truck drivers to see through blind spots. It can be used in
banks for safety purposes. It is also thought to be used for military applications
and for security purposes.
One of the problem with this
invisiblity cloak is that they work only if both the viewer and whatever is
being cloaked remain still. This is practically not possible which has put
forth a big challenge. And I hope this problem will be solved soon and Harry
Potter's cloak wil be used for beneficial purposes soon. Enabling things from
"fiction to reality"
