Techworld's Gift....3D Sensors.
This world is truly strange
and we humans just don’t have learnt to stop. This is clearly visible from how
we reduced the room sized computers to a computer of the size of our palm. As I
love fidgeting with my phone and ipad I still expect more and more as consumer
with launch of every successive technology. We wish, wish and wish and in few
days the technology is in front of us.
From 2D movies and pictures we moved
to 3D movies and now there it is 3D Sensors. What more was left after knowing
about 3D sensors that could let us go beyond touch which not only tracks motion
and identifies objects, but also determines what the movement of those objects
actually mean.
Now days many laptops have 3D sensing cameras
which are way ahead of sensing mere shapes and motion to detect physical
movements and even the emotional state of individual. These sensors can actually
detect and can find whether you're enjoying a particular video game or not by
tracking change in your facial expression. It benefits us in many ways as it
can detect the face of child and determine whether a child engaged in reading
excersise is having difficulty with a particular word or not. It helps to get a
3D photo of your foot to get an accurate shoe size which can help you in online
shopping. It could measure the dimension of the sofas in the store and it might
show the true size of the fish caught by the fisherman rom the picture.
Beyond touchscreen these sensors can help you
manipulate items in screen just as you would do physically using a virtual hand
to pick things up. This technology is pioneering and new motion-based
interfaces for other consumer devices will soon be a vailable.
These sensors can also be used in
cars which can not only detect objects around it but also recognise whether
car, truck, or any person is on the way. This facilitates safe driving and in
future will help in automatic driving.
We can safely say that this
technology would "bridge the gap between the real and virtual world"
by creating a level of interaction that is beyond our imagination. So i would
say here science is really bliss..!
