Halloween is a holiday celebrated on the night of October 31 the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows' Day. It’s celebrated in many countries especially US, UK, France and other western European countries. The traditional theme of All Halloween revolves around the using "humour and ridicule to face the power of death.

Halloween is typically a Celtic harvest festival particularly Samhain. The festival of Samhain is a celebration at the end of the harvest like our Pongal,

Makar Sakranti. Farmers used to stock supplies of food and other essentials and prepare for winter. They believed that on October 31, the boundaries between the worlds of the living and the dead overlapped and the deceased would come back to life and cause havoc such as sickness or crops damage. The festival would frequently involve bonfires to protect themselves. Masks and costumes were worn in an attempt to mimic the evil spirits or appease them.

With time it got modified and became more modern. Nowadays it’s just celebrated for fun and enjoyment. Originally Halloween festival included activities like trick –or-treating and lighting bonfires. But now a days people do costume parties, decorate and carve pumpkins into lanterns, visit haunted houses, play pranks on friends and family, tell scary stories, and watching horror films.
