“Namaste Mangalyaan” @CuriosityRover…
The moment Mangalyaan entered the
Martian Atmosphere the twitter started trending #MarsMission, #India,
#Mangalyaan. Curiosity Rover a mars mission by NASA welcomed it by twitting
Namaste Mangalyaan. Everyone had Mangalyaan on their tongue and it should be.
As moms are always motivating this MOM whom I
am talking about is also similar. MOM-(Mars Orbiter Mission) has motivated
Indian scientists, Indians and India showing the world its power.
It was featured to demonstrate technology to
develop the technologies for designing, planning, managing, and operations of
an interplanetary mission. MOM was launched on 5 November 2013 and it was
lifted off from launch pad at Satish Dhawan Space Centre, in Andhra Pradesh.
The total project cost was estimated to be ₹4.54 billion. And this was the
starting of bad time for Mangalyaan. Many Indians began to criticize that how
India can afford this mission when millions of people are hungry and poor. One
thing that is to be noted is that the same mission was launched by America
called MAVEN which entered mars just 2 days before it costing a mopping $ 670
million. Now what you will say, I would say it’s commendable, using just a
fraction of money and being a hit in début is actually commendable. Another
thing is that the mission was entirely a home-grown project. For the kind information to those Indians who criticized it , one thing to be noted is that
it was a marketing of the Indian space technology which now will show its
profits by capturing many of the world space market of launching satellites and
other missions.
Mission:
The chief missions were to be a
technology demonstrator. Other objectives were deep space communication,
navigation, and management. It also aimed at design and realization of Mars orbiter.
These are technological objectives while it also had scientific objectives like
- Exploration of Mars surface feature
- To know morphology and mineralogy
of Mars
- To understand Martian atmosphere by
indigenous scientific instrumentation.
Sighing Moments:
1.
When it took off.
2.
When for the first time its
engines were manoeuvred to provide it a higher speed.
3.
When the main engine was
ignited after sleep of 300 days in deep atmosphere.
4.
Finally when it was inserted
in the Martian atmosphere.
Scientists involved behind the success:
K. Radhakrishnan who is former
chairperson of ISRO, M Annadurai he is the programme director of MOM. SK
Shivakumar, P Kunhikrishnan, chandranathan played a major role.
As a feminist what makes us feel more
proud is that 20% of ISRO employees and 10% of ISRO Engineers are women. As PM
Modi mentioned on this victory of 51 attempts to reach Mars by other countries.
Only 21 succeeded. Ours being successful at its maiden trial
Mangalyaan is a successful mission
making India as just fourth space agency to successfully send a probe orbiting
mars.
Hearty Congratulations to our
Scientists.
LONG LIVE MOM...LONG LIVE OUR
SCIENTISTS
